Robert Arms has inspired young musicians in Alaska for nearly 30 years. After graduating from the University of Oregon with degrees in both Music Performance and Music Education, he returned home to Alaska to share his love of Jazz.
His work and enthusiasm for music education resulted in award winning youth Jazz bands as well as substantive changes in how music was taught at all levels of the education system in Anchorage. After 26 years of dedicated service in the Anchorage School District, and 29 years as the principal percussionist with the Anchorage Symphony Orchestra, Robert has created the Institute to continue his legacy of mentoring talented and passionate young musicians.
Cameron Cartland is a percussionist and educator in Anchorage. His love for music began as a student in the Anchorage School District Music program. After graduation, he pursued his musical education at the Berklee College of Music, which was followed by an intensive musical study program in Brazil.
Cameron teaches individual and group classes in Anchorage, as well as providing accompaniment for visiting artists including Eddie Palmieri, Jovino Santos Neto, Dennis DiBlasio, Larry Ham, Barney McClure, Rebecca Mauleon, and John Lee Hooker Jr.,
